Patient Information:
What's it like?
Generally, the only thing one notices while in a hyperbaric chamber is a "full-ear" feeling.
This feeling is just like that experienced on an airplane, and easily relieved by equalizing ones ears. In our
chamber, a person can lie or sit comfortably. Treatments normally last around 90 minutes.
How do I get started?
In order to receive Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy, you must first be evaluated by, and obtain a prescription from,
a physician. Minnesota Hyperbaric has established relationships with several physicians that we can refer you
too. We will accept prescriptions from your own provider, and are willing to provide any requested information
your personal provider may desire about HBOT, including assistance in setting up consults from physicians
experienced with HBOT.
What can/should I bring?
In order to maintain the greatest level of safety, we only allow certain items inside of the chamber. Our chamber
is compressed with air, instead of oxygen, allowing some flexibility with items allowed inside the chamber.
Adults entering the chamber are expected to wear 100% cotton clothing provided by Minnesota Hyperbaric, exceptions may
be made.Any item that generates heat,an open flame, or any electronics is prohibited. No food or drink, except
water in approved container, is allowed in.
Some ideas for patients include a book, magazine, crossword, non-spiral notebook, and pencil (without eraser) or crayon.
Any other items that are not directly addressed here or on the Chamber Guidelines form must be approved by the
chamber technician.
What about Safety?
Unlike many monoplace chambers, our chamber is compressed with air, not oxygen, and instead uses a hood or mask to deliver oxygen.
About our Chamber:
Manufactured by Oxyhealth, our chamber is classified monoplace, but large enough to fit two people comfortably.
